Fancy studying at the University of Erfurt from the winter term onwards? – Application deadline extended

Anyone wishing to start their degree programme at the University of Erfurt in October 2026 – that is, in the winter semester – can still submit an application until 30 September.

The application and enrolment deadline of 30 September applies to

  • Bachelor’s degree programmes with no admission restrictions 
  • Master’s in Catholic Theology 
  • Certificate programmes
  • Master’s degree programmes (without a selection process)
  • Master of Education programmes

The course catalogue is extremely diverse – from English to Economics. Anyone wishing to become a primary school, secondary school or special needs school teacher is also in exactly the right place here. 

Would you like to study in the very rooms where Martin Luther himself once studied the liberal arts? The Faculty of Catholic Theology, based in the cathedral, is the only one of its kind in the eastern German federal states. Students here are immersed in history whilst simultaneously exploring contemporary issues in theology and society. Economics, Law and Social Sciences in Erfurt are also something special: The focus here is on linking different disciplines (law, social sciences – including sociology and political science – as well as economics). The interdisciplinary nature of the programme – that is, the ‘interplay’ between the various disciplines – provides an excellent foundation for future specialisation.

For those who wish to look beyond the confines of their own discipline, the ‘Studium Fundamentale’ offers new perspectives: this component of the Bachelor’s programme enables students to acquire a wide range of methodological skills and key competences in interdisciplinary courses, whilst gaining practical, career-oriented experience. Furthermore, a mentoring scheme ensures that students receive personalised support from a professor right from the first semester. Another exciting aspect of the Bachelor’s programme in Erfurt is the so-called ‘two-subject Bachelor’s’. This means that the programme consists of two subjects: a major and a minor. This ensures that graduates are well-equipped for their future careers.
