Lecture: "'You shall be a blessing! Church and theology in the face of extremism, war and climate catastrophe"

As part of a conference of the Conference of Institutes for Protestant Theology (KIET), which will take place in Erfurt this autumn in cooperation with the Professorship of Religious Education at the University of Erfurt, there will also be a public evening lecture on Wednesday, 7 October. Friedrich Kramer, Bishop of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and Peace Commissioner of the Evangelical Church in Germany, will speak on the topic "'You shall be a blessing! Church and theology in the face of extremism, war and climate catastrophe". The lecture begins at 6.15 pm in the Augustinian Monastery. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend. Admission is free.

The world has been in crisis mode for years: armed conflicts, right-wing populist and in some cases extremist parties and a changing climate with numerous extreme weather events are challenging our liberal democratic societies. What can the church and theology do in the face of these challenges? How can the biblical mandate to be a blessing (Gen 12,2) be realised in the crises of this world?

Friedrich Kramer will address these questions in his lecture. Afterwards, all guests are invited to a small reception to exchange ideas. The evening will conclude with a prayer service at 9 pm.
