New Gotha Research Library blog post: "A Book Returns. History and Future of the Perthes Publishing Library".

In December 2022, the Gotha Research Library achieved a surprising coup. It acquired the "Vollständige Handbuch der neuesten Erdbeschreibung" by Adam Christian Gaspari. Published in a second edition from 1819 to 1832 by Friedrich Justin Bertuch's "Geographisches Institut" in Weimar, the handbook was a widely used geographical standard work at the time. The acquisition was sensational because it was the hand copy of Adolf Stieler.
