Who were the women who studied Catholic theology in the GDR? In which fields did they go on to work after completing their studies? How do they look back on their student days and their professional lives today? Alongside an introduction to the historical background of the Edith SteinSeminar within the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology in Erfurt, the core of the book consists of 16 biographical interviews conducted by the authors with women who studied Catholic theology in Erfurt between 1962 and 1992. The authors’ aim is to bring these women to the fore and to provide a space for their hitherto untold, female perspective on a specific period of the GDR’s church history.
