Discoveries with the "Schlaufuchs": Erfurt Children’s University kicks off a new term

Attention, clever kids: Erfurt Children’s University is kicking off a new term in October. Then, children from Erfurt and the surrounding area can once again become real students. The Children’s University invites them to sit in real lecture halls just like the "grown-ups" and ask the university lecturers all sorts of questions. The programme has just been published, and registrations are now open.

Once again, there are exciting new topics in store for the children: at the University of Erfurt, for example, they can leaf through friendship albums from times long past and discover what people used to share with one another back then and what they wrote in these little books as mementos. Things get hands-on in the lecture “Your room is going green!”. There, visitors will learn fascinating facts about houseplants. And in another workshop, Children’s University participants can step into the shoes of environmental researchers themselves and experience how research into environmentally conscious behaviour works. At Helios Klinikum Erfurt, for example, participants can go on a discovery tour of the emergency centre, get to know the ambulance service or learn a bit about how blood flows through our bodies. And at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, there will once again be exciting events from the world of science – touching and trying things out for yourself is, of course, allowed! The events are designed for children of various age groups, and participation is free of charge.

Detailed information on the individual events and how to register is available on the Children’s University website at www.kinderuni-erfurt.de. If you want to make sure you don’t miss any updates, you can also sign up for the “Schlaufuchs” newsletter by emailing lisa.wollenschlaeger@uni-erfurt.de. As well as the current programme, you’ll find information here about how the Children’s University works. Children can take part either individually or with their whole school class. However, registration with Gesine Grimm via email at Gesine.Grimm@helios-gesundheit.de is required in all cases.
