Thuringian universities complain about poor start-up climate

A recent ZEIT article makes it clear: Thuringian universities complain about a difficult start-up climate. Bureaucracy, a lack of funding opportunities and too little risk culture put the brakes on innovative ideas.

But right now it is important to make the opportunities for innovation from the humanities and social sciences visible. Many social challenges - from democracy education and digital ethics to social entrepreneurship - require creative solutions that often do not come from traditional high-tech fields. With our incubation programme at the Social Impact Campus of the University of Erfurt, we support students and researchers in developing their ideas from the initial sketch to prototypes and pitches. We use various methods and tools, particularly with a focus on impact orientation, to turn a vision into a viable business model. We are convinced that a vibrant start-up ecosystem in Thuringia needs courage, interdisciplinary approaches and the special perspective of the humanities and social sciences. Let's tackle it!
