Childcare

An entitlement to a childcare place exists from the age of one. The parents are free to choose the facility. 

If parents are registered in Erfurt, they can use the city's online-portal to find out about all childcare facilities and search for available places. Numerous facilities make it possible to make a childcare enquiry directly via the online portal. Institutions not involved in the online procedure must still be contacted personally. If a care contract is to be concluded here, the institution applies for a day-care centre or crèche card at the Youth Welfare Office ("Jugendamt").

Parents can contact the advice centre for families with children at the Erfurt Youth Welfare Office with all questions concerning the search for a daycare place. This also helps if parents are not (yet) registered in Erfurt. A childminder is an alternative to a daycare centre or crèche. Here too, the Youth Welfare Office can help.

There are two childcare facilities on the campus of the University of Erfurt, another one at the University of Applied Sciences.

 

Campus of the University of Erfurt: "Räuberhöhle"

The flexible childcare facility „Räuberhöhle" offers childcare outside of the regular daycare opening hours and in case of short-term needs. Here, children aged between 12 weeks and 10 years can be looked after by the hour.

Campus of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt: "Kinderladen"

A further flexible care facility is located on the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. The "Kinderladen" is also open to members of the university.

Max-Kade-building: "Campus Kinderland"

The multi-generational house Max-Kade-building houses the day care centre "Campus-Kinderland" of the student services organisation ("Studierendenwerk") with 80 places. Children from the age of 6 months are admitted.
