10th Erfurt Campus Run: A brilliant race!

Once again this year, numerous runners laced up their trainers to take part in what is now the 10th Erfurt Campus Run. More than 140 individual runners and 38 teams took to the ten-kilometre course at the University of Erfurt in high summer temperatures – another record number of participants!

As always, the Bambini kicked things off with a 400-metre lap, before the team race began at 5 pm – with the usual witty commentary from Jens Panse, who had once again organised the event together with his team from the Erfurt University Sports Club (USV) and the University Health Management department.

In the team race, consisting of 25 laps around the campus lawn, two students from the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences, as part of the “Wolfsmänner I” team, emerged victorious after a hard-fought battle, ahead of the university’s team of former students “Lehrplanlos” and the “Gut gebaut” team from the subject area of Civil Engineering at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. In the women’s category, victory went to the swimmers from USV Erfurt – ahead of the rugby team ‘Erfurt Oaks’ (also USV) and the team ‘Schmidt Happens’.

In the individual race and the Thuringian University Championships, which started at 6 pm, Adrian Panse (EAH Jena) from the USV crossed the finish line first in 35:03 minutes, followed by Eric Putz with a time of 36:57 and Andreas Richter (39:14) – both from Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. In the women’s race, Jana Millat was the first to cross the finish line in 39:30 minutes, securing the university championship title for the University of Erfurt. Second place went to Linda Hellmuth from Erfurt University of Applied Sciences with a time of 47:46 minutes, and third place went to Lina Atte from the University of Jena (51:22).

The 10th Erfurt Campus Run was once again supported by the Studierendenwerk and AOK PLUS, the University of Erfurt’s health partner. “Of course, despite all the competition for victory, the focus should be above all on health and the joy of sport,” says Jens Panse. He is delighted that interest has been so high again this year. “The fact that registration numbers are growing steadily is not only great to see, but also a sign that our running events have now become well established. And what pleases me most is that, unlike at traditional fun runs, we have so many young, student participants – both amongst the runners and in the crowd lining the route. That, and the really great atmosphere, is what sets our Erfurt Campus Run apart.”

But even aside from the races, there was plenty of sporting action on campus on 24 June: Wednesday was also the final day of the 2026 Erfurt Campus Cup, in which students from Erfurt’s universities competed against one another in various disciplines. The competitions kicked off on 22 June with floorball and a cornhole tournament on the campus of Erfurt University of Applied Sciences, before continuing on 23 June at the Erfurt Anger with street football and basketball. And on 24 June – alongside the 10th Erfurt Campus Run – it was once again ‘Baggern um die Ehre’ on the campus on Nordhäuser Straße. Alongside this beach volleyball tournament, there was rugby, teqball and flunky ball – all organised by the University Sports Association and students, and supported by the City of Erfurt’s Municipal University and Student Advisory Board.

The sportiest week of the year for Erfurt’s universities then drew to a festive close that evening at Erfurt’s “Retronom”. Over cool drinks and in high spirits, trophies were presented to the winners of all the competitions.
