Oh! - how interesting ...

With her parlour game "Oh! wie Osten", Jule Henschel creates spaces for dialogue about German-German history and its impact to this day. She founded her freelance sole proprietorship at the end of 2025 and has been combining social commitment with entrepreneurial courage ever since.

Founder portrait - Jule Henschel: "Oh! like the East"

Jule Henschel is the founder of the interactive parlour game " Oh! wie Osten " - a game that gets people talking through playful questions and stories and challenges prejudices, stereotypes and entrenched perspectives about East Germany.

With her project, Jule wants to create meeting spaces in which people from different generations, backgrounds and walks of life can play, talk and reflect together. "Oh! wie Osten" functions as a medium for dialogue: it opens up conversations about experiences, cultures of remembrance and everyday realities beyond clichés.

The game was developed by Jule herself and has already been presented in various formats - for example at public game labs and theme days, where it serves as a conversation starter about East German identities and social diversity.

Jules' path to becoming a founder is closely linked to her personal exploration of history and identity: By making the topic of "East and West experiences" accessible in a creative, inclusive way, she combines design, social engagement and participatory formats. The game idea has been recognised several times, including winning a place in the engagement competition machen!2025.

At the end of 2025, Jule registered her sole proprietorship as part of a freelance business and thus took the step towards the professional realisation of her project. With "Oh! wie Osten" and @ohwieosten on Instagram, she is now continuously expanding the reach of her play dialogue.

Jule is an example of how a creative idea can develop into an impact-oriented start-up project that addresses social issues in a playful way and promotes encounters - an approach that focuses on both cultural reflection and collaborative learning.
