In 2025, Christianity celebrated the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, the first ecumenical council in the history of the Church. Its resolutions continue to shape the Christian denominations to this day, above all the great creed that unites Christians. Nicaea also set standards for church decision-making in faith, liturgy and law. The contributions in this ecumenically orientated volume reflect on the confessional tradition that began with Nicaea and ask about the conditions and possibilities of confessional formation and decision-making in the church today.
The new volume contains contributions by Johannes Lorenz, Notker Baumann, Wolfram Kinzig, Markus Weißer, Bernhard Knorn, Burkhard Neumann, Ulrike Link-Wieczorek, Bernd Oberdorfer, Dirk Ansorge, Georgiana Huian, Paul Schroffner, Andreas Krebs, Andreas R. Batlogg, Heike Grieser, Johannes Arnold, Anargyros Anapliotis, Christoph Theobald, Hacik Rafi Gazer, Friederike Nüssel and Thomas Söding.
