Every two years, the prize recognizes the excellent dissertation of a young scientist submitted to the University of Erfurt. One dissertation from each faculty and from the Max-Weber-Kolleg is nominated for this, which has previously been awarded the highest grade.

The jury particularly praised the scientific originality of Hannah Vermaßen's thesis, which made an important contribution to current research. In addition, the work scored points for its methodological approach as well as its brilliance in execution and presentation.

Also nominated were:

Antonia Purk, "Enacting Presences. Jamaica Kincaid's Writings of History" (Faculty of Philosophy);

Clemens Villinger: "From Unjust Plan to Just Market? Consumption, Everyday Life, and Social Inequality in the Long History of the 'Turning Point'" (Max-Weber-Kolleg);

Dominique-Marcel Kosack: "Redemption of the Self. A Late Modern Soteriology and the Irritation of Personal Identity" (Faculty of Catholic Theology)and

Lea Kallenbach: "(World) Relations in the Evidence-Based Governance of the School System. An empirically grounded critique of resonance relations." (Faculty of Education).

The prize, which was once again sponsored by the University Society in cooperation with Volksbank Thüringen Mitte, is endowed with a total of 5,000 euros – 3,000 euros for the first-place winner(s) and 500 euros each for the nominees. The award ceremony took place during the university-wide "Doctorate Day". We congratulate the award winner and all nominees.
