Blessing to go?

The Erfurt professors Julia Knop and Benedikt Kranemann believe that the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith's declaration of blessing is no cause for celebration, as the crisis in the Church is too serious and the loss of trust too great.

In an article by the two theologians in "Theologie aktuell", the blog of the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Erfurt, Knop writes that the document is not an "appropriate response to the question of trust among Catholics", especially those who are "condemned and excluded by the Church" because of their sexual identity. It is also not enough to "grant queer couples a blessing in passing. The church's history of guilt towards them is too enormous for that."
