Information from the organiser
In this edition of Climate Connect, we look at the consequences of Trump's second term in office for global climate protection. This time, we talk to Jürgen Martschukat, Professor of North American History, and Guido Mehlkop, Professor of Quantitative Methods in Empirical Social Research, both professors at the University of Erfurt. The focus is on Trump's political style: ‘America First’, populism, turning away from international partnerships and treaties, devaluation of and ignorance towards science (‘alternative facts’), and ‘deals’ instead of norm-oriented politics. Why does Trump's style seem so attractive in the United States right now that he was re-elected? We will examine these and your questions from the perspectives of sociology and history.
