German scholarships awarded

In the current winter semester 2019/20, the University of Erfurt has once again awarded 25 scholarships within the framework of its national scholarship programme - so-called Germany scholarships - to particularly talented, high-performing students. A total of 30 students, who came to the award ceremony today, will benefit from the scholarship.

This was made possible by the support of the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Ernst Abbe Foundation, the Protestant School Foundation in Central Germany, the United Chamber of Churches and Monasteries Erfurt, the Zonta Club Erfurt and other private donors.

With the Germany Scholarship, the University of Erfurt is on the one hand continuing to support students who already received such a scholarship last year. In addition, "new" scholarship holders will also receive the support. The duration of the support varies and depends, among other things, on the expiry of the standard period of study.

The national scholarship programme is aimed at all first-year students as well as students already enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme. Scholarships are generally awarded for a period of two semesters, depending on talent and performance. In addition to previous achievements, social commitment, the willingness to assume responsibility or special social, family or personal circumstances are also taken into account. The scholarships of 300 euros are financed half by the federal government, the other half by companies, foundations, associations or private individuals. The first German scholarships were awarded by the University of Erfurt in 2012.
