"I interpret the music as a fierce touch, as an embrace"

"I have a theory and I have an experience. A powerful, tremendous experience – the experience of a tremendous energy that is released in Heavy Metal, so that it grips and moves, connects and brings together my body and soul from inside and outside at the same time. It touches the deepest depths within me and at the same time strives upwards to the highest heights that seem possible to me," says Professor Hartmut Rosa about Heavy Metal. In his recently published book "When Monsters Roar and Angels Sing", the sociologist tries to bring together his theory and this very experience.

We talked to him about this for our research blog "WortMelder". And also about what Iron Maiden and Anton Bruckner have in common.
