Katrin Kriebel is the new Addiction Officer at the University of Erfurt

The University of Erfurt has a new Addiction Officer. After completing additional training, Katrin Kriebel took over the role in May, which Jens Panse had held on an interim basis in recent months. Jens Panse and Vivien Kretschmer from University Health Management support the work of the Addiction Officers as addiction counsellors.

The consequences of excessive alcohol consumption are often underestimated in the society, but they cause limitations in mental, physical and social well-being. Regular consumption of alcohol and other addictive substances endangers mental and physical health. The negative consequences affect not only the person concerned, but also their private and professional environment. As part of its duty of care as an employer, the University of Erfurt provides comprehensive information to prevent the development of addictions and to encourage responsible use of addictive substances.

The university's addiction prevention and addiction support working group supports staff members suffering from addiction in overcoming their addiction and reintegrating into everyday working life. In addition, the members are contact persons for managers and staff who have colleagues in their working environment whose behaviour may indicate an addiction problem.

If necessary, you can also arrange a personal appointment with the Addiction Officer Katrin Kriebel. All conversations are, of course, strictly confidential.

Further information on support and counselling services in the context of addiction prevention and addiction support can be found on the website of the University Health Management.
