KLIMA-N Symposium provides stimulus for more sustainability

Discussions on sustainability at universities in Thuringia as well as the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development characterised the second symposiums of the KLIMA-N project. One central topic was the idea of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will be further developed in the coming months.

On 16 January 2025, the second symposium of the KLIMA-N project took place on the campus of Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. The event was opened by project manager Professor Dr Björn Machalett. The opening was followed by presentations on various topics such as a university network for sustainability in Thuringia, cultures of sustainability, and sustainability at Thuringian universities.

The symposium also served as an opportunity to exchange ideas with speakers who shared their experiences and insights from existing university networks for sustainability in Hesse, Bavaria, and Austria.

During the exchange and the open discussion with the audience, the idea emerged that politics could be involved via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which the Thuringian Conference of State Presidents commits to the newly created Thuringian University Network Sustainability (THN-N).
