Lecture Series: "Playing with Fear. Disinformation, Threatening Gestures and Energy War"

In the winter semester of 2022/23, the University of Erfurt, the Thuringian State Parliament and the "Thüringer Allgemeine" newspaper will continue their joint lecture series, which features distinguished experts from the fields of communication and politics to create a broad network between academia, politics and the media. This time, the topic is "Playing with Fear. Disinformation, Threatening Gestures and Energy War".

The first event is on Tuesday, November 22. The journalist Hans Demmel will speak in the plenary hall of the Thuringian State Parliament on the topic of "The journalistic 'other world': Are alternative media really alternative or a real danger?

Start is at 6.15 p.m. , admission from 6 p.m. Admission is free, but registration at www.thueringer-allgemeine.de/ringvorlesung is required.

It continues on Thursday, 15 December, likewise at 6.15 p.m. Then Sarah Pagung of the German society for foreign policy, is our guest in the communikations and information center (KIZ) at the University of Erfurt. Pagung, like Hans Demmel, is known from various TV formats. She is an expert on Russian foreign and security policy as well as Russia's information policy. The title of her lecture is "Fake News Made in Russia - Disinformation as an Instrument of Russian Foreign Policy in Germany". Another date of the lecture series is planned for January. Then Dr Peter Rudolf (Senior Fellow at the "Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik") will speak about "Nuclear Deterrence". More information will follow.
