New publication on Latin building inscriptions in the cityscape of Erfurt

"Felix Thuringia plaude", "happy Thuringia, applaud": This is written in Erfurt on the substructures (cavates) of the Domberg on an architectural inscription. Anyone walking through the historic center of Erfurt will come across such inscriptions again and again in the cityscape. The oldest of these were created in the 14th century, the most recent are less than 25 years old. Together, the Latin building inscriptions offer a diverse insight into the history of the city.

Kai Brodersen, Professor of Ancient Culture at the University of Erfurt, presents in his new book "Felix Thuringia plaude" about 50 inscriptions of Erfurt in picture, text and (often for the first time) in German translation. In this way, he opens up access to the Latin architectural inscriptions visible in the cityscape for all those interested in Erfurt and its history.
