Start-of-semester event organised by the Workshop for Media Education (WfMB)for lecturers

It is now widely recognised (and enshrined in the curriculum) that media education is one of the school’s responsibilities. Accordingly, universities are also expected to train teachers who are competent in media education. After all, only teachers who are well-qualified in media education can successfully use media and digital tools to design lessons and promote their pupils’ competent use of media and digital infrastructures. But how can media education be successfully integrated into teacher training (as well as in-service training and professional development)? How have we so far implemented media education in academic teacher training (in an interdisciplinary manner)? What is currently planned, what still needs to be done, and how can we go about it?

Following presentations on the current curricular integration of media education in schools and in academic teacher training in Thuringia, on the implementation of media education in teacher training (both here and at other locations), and the outline of current plans (particularly regarding the subjects of media education and computer science), all interested parties are warmly invited to participate in this discussion forum, which will take the form of a workshop.
Alongside Melanie Hey from Thillm, the discussion will feature Ulf Sauerbrey, Judith Schweppe and Dagmar Brand, amongst others.
