Schule gestalten in Namibia – Film screening and discussion: the ELsA project and Kevin Recknagel

Information from the organisers

How does a school come into being where there was none before? The event will begin with a screening of the 20-minute documentary ‘Wisdom is chasing you’, which was filmed by teacher-trainee Kevin Recknagel himself during his stay in Namibia. He will then talk about his personal experiences in setting up the children’s centre and the nursery school in Okahandja. Together, we’ll take a look at the reality of education on the ground and discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise when developing educational projects in collaboration with local partners, as well as the significance that international educational projects can have for trainee teachers.

About ELsA

ELsA (Erfurt Teacher Training Students Abroad) is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) (2021–2024; 2025–2029). Its aim is to internationalise teacher training at the University of Erfurt in the long term. Increasing mobility abroad and facilitating intercultural experiences for lecturers and students are key objectives of this project. In doing so, the aim is to strengthen existing partnerships with universities and to establish and consolidate further international contacts.
