For more visibility of women in science

Women are still underrepresented in science and research. In its "Zia – Visible Women in Science & Humanities" programme, ZEIT publishing house therefore invites female scientists to a one-year fellowship, which offers them the opportunity to further their professional and personal development – through workshops on communication and rhetoric, voice training, body language and media logic, but also through the exchange of experiences and networking with each other as well as with female role models and institutional supporters from science, research, business and the public sector. The aim is to strengthen young female scientists in the academic system and also to promote equal opportunities.

Dr Suzanne Amy Foxley, research employee at the professorship “History and Cultures of Spaces in the Modern Era” at the Department of History, is the first woman at the University of Erfurt to take part in this fellowship programme. We spoke to her about her experiences for our research blog “WortMelder”.
