Description

Once you finished your doctorate and start planning your future academic career in Germany, third party funding is a topic you can’t ignore: Funds for research, teaching and supportive activities are available by manifold funding agencies and programs. Yet, competition is tough and you need to plan smart to become a successful grantee.

This course is designed for early postdocs, as well as for doctoral candidates in the late stage of their doctorate. Participants will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and mindset to prepare a third-party-funding proposal.

In particular, the course will cover three topics:

  • The big picture: How to select funds that fit to your academic career plans
  • How to start: First organizational steps to prepare a funding proposal
  • The proposal as a text genre: How to sell your idea to the audience

Participants will be asked to read thoroughly a handout that is sent in advance.
