Engelbert Humperdinck's fairytale opera "Sleeping Beauty" is enchanting music full of good and evil fairies, power-hungry kings and a court that is preoccupied with itself. Now the piece is coming to the stage with new, self-written spoken texts. The new version also makes it understandable for children and young people and challenges traditional role clichés such as those of the passive, obedient Sleeping Beauty and the heroic prince.
All instrumental, vocal and speaking parts are performed by teachers and students from the Music department. The Erfurt Cathedral Girls' Choir will be performing as a guest ensemble. The Music by Engelbert Humperdinck remains unchanged and will be performed in an arrangement by Ralph Richey for two pianos.
