"Heimat im Umbruch" – Interdisciplinary conference on the transformation of rural areas in Thuringia

"Heimat im Umbruch – Die Transformation des ländlichen Raums in Thüringen von 1945 bis heute" is the title of an interdisciplinary conference hosted by the University of Erfurt together with the Thuringian State Commissioner for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship in cooperation with the Thuringian State Agency for Civic Education on 1 and 2 June at Haus Dacheröden (Anger 37, Erfurt).

"Haus Dacheröden" in Erfurt

The conference brings together academic and practical perspectives on the political, economic and social changes of the past eight decades and discusses their impact on the concept and understanding of home today. It offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange between academics, practitioners and citizens in order to present new theoretical and empirical findings and to place current political debates in a broader historical context. As a state without metropolises, Thuringia represents a unique field of research.

Please find the programme in our event flyer (in German only). Participation in the conference is free of charge, registration is not required. All interested citizens are cordially invited to join in the discussions on site.
