Students at the University of Erfurt present "Myths of Migration"

Under the title "Myths of Migration", students from the University of Erfurt are presenting a travelling exhibition at the Andreasstraße Memorial and Education Centre in Erfurt from 30 October to 1 November, which they have created as part of a seminar led by Professor Sabine Schmolinsky and Dr Reiner Praß. The opening will take place on 30 October at 4 pm. Anyone interested is warmly invited to attend.

Migration is currently one of the most hotly debated topics. In these discussions – whether amongst politicians and journalists or in private conversations – claims are frequently made about migrants that contradict the findings of migration research. Anyone taking part in discussions about migration is often overwhelmed by such myths, without knowing how to respond to them. In the exhibition, the students contrast such statements with the realities of migrants’ lives across twelve panels.

Anyone who missed the exhibition at the Andreasstraße Memorial and Education Centre will have another chance to see it on Friday, 6 November. It will then be on display on the University of Erfurt campus as part of the “Long Night of Sciences”.
