What is a secondary listener membership?

Students enrolled at another German university can be admitted to the University of Erfurt as secondary listener upon application. A distinction is made between secondary listener:

Secondary listener without a degree

Application periods:
by 30.04. for the summer semester
by 31.10. for the winter semester

Secondary listener without a degree are authorised to attend courses and take examinations at the University of Erfurt. They are not enrolled, but become members of the University of Erfurt through admission to individual courses and for the duration of their admission, without being members.
In degree programmes with restricted admission, it is not possible to be a secondary student without a degree!

Before you can apply for a secondary listener without a degree, you must first register in the application portal to create an applicant account at the University of Erfurt. To register, please use an e-mail address that you check regularly. After registering, you will receive a message (welcome e-mail) with your user ID and an activation code / activation link to the e-mail address you have provided. You can activate your account by entering the activation code or by calling up the activation link from the e-mail. Please remember your user ID, which you will receive in the welcome e-mail after your registration, and the password you have chosen yourself. You will need this to log in to the application portal in future.

Once you have successfully logged into the application portal, select "Start application" and add a new application. Select "Zweithörer ohne Abschluss" (secondary listener without a degree) - you will then be guided through the application step by step. Registration as a secondary listener is only possible for one subject. This also applies if you only intend to attend a language course. After completing the data entry, your application will have the status "In preparation". You have the opportunity to check everything again and correct it if necessary. Incomplete applications and applications that have not (yet) been submitted are saved so that the application can be continued when you return. Afterwards, do not forget to submit your application (electronically)!
After examination of your data and uploaded documents, you will be registered as a secondary student and notified by e-mail.
Your user data for the university account (University of Erfurt e-mail address, your user name and the initial password) will then be available to you on the start page in the applicant portal . The initial password must first be changed for unrestricted use of the services of the University Computer and Media Centre (URMZ). The change is made via the University Computer and Media Centre (URMZ) user portal. Only then is your university account active. As soon as you have activated your university account by changing the initial password, you can also use it to log in to the application/student portal. Your previous access data (applicant account) will only be available as a temporary login after matriculation and registration.

In the student portal, you will then have access to the secondary listener certificate for the semester you have applied for.
Secondary listener without a degree do not pay a semester contribution and re-register by presenting the current certificate of enrolment from their first university.

Your personal data will be collected and stored as part of the application and enrolment process at the University of Erfurt. Before completing the online form, please note the following information:

Secondary listener with degree

Secondary listener with a degree are entitled to take a final examination or to obtain an academic degree at the University of Erfurt, i.e. they are enrolled at another university as a main student and are studying another degree programme as a secondary student at the University of Erfurt. This entitles them to attend courses, take examinations and complete their degree programme.

Enrolment/application takes place online via the respective form for an admission-free Bachelor's or Master's degree programme. It is necessary (analogous to the main auditor) that all enrolment requirements according to § 2 of the enrolment regulations are fulfilled. Admission is required for matriculation and registration in a Master's degree programme.

Secondary listener with a degree are enrolled and thus become members of the University of Erfurt. The semester contribution must be paid in full unless the main student is enrolled at another university in Thuringia.

Admission as a secondary listener is not possible in degree programmes with restricted admission!
