Application periods and deadlines

General information

At the University of Erfurt, there are no separate application deadlines for so-called ‘Altabiturienten’ .

For applicants who have obtained their university entrance qualification in a non-EU country, specific forms and deadlines apply (see: International Applicants).

Bachelor’s degree programme

  • Semester: first and subsequent semesters
  • Auditor status: main auditors and secondary auditors with a degree
  • Start of studies: winter semester
  • Registration deadline: 1 May – 15 September

In exceptional cases, matriculation and registration for the summer semester are also possible. If you wish to do so, please contact the Faculty of Catholic Theology first. If your request is approved, you may enrol onlinefrom 1 December to 15 March.

Master’s degree programme

Master’s degree with a selection process

A selection process is held for the following Master’s programmes:

  • Health Communication
  • Global Communication
  • Children's and Youth Media Studies

Applications can only be made for the winter semester. The application period runs from 1 January to 15 July (deadline).

Master’s degree without a selection process

Due to the time required to process applications and review admission requirements, it is recommended that applications for all master’s programs be submitted by 15/07 for a winter semester or by 15/01 for a summer semester at the latest, so that, in the event of admission, enrollment can still be completed in time before the start of the semester.

The following Master’s programmes can only be started in the winter semester:

  • Democracy and Economy
  • Educational Science
  • Psychology
  • Special Needs and Integrational Education
  • Religious Studies

Master of Education programmes

Due to the time required to process applications and review admission requirements, it is recommended that applications be submitted by 15/07 for a winter semester at the latest, so that, in the event of admission, enrollment can still be completed in time before the start of the semester.

Admission to the Master of Education (M.Ed.) is intended only for the winter semester. For the summer semester, admission is possible only if applicants can present and substantiate reasons for an exception to the M.Ed. Admissions Committee.
