Financial relief for students: Only half of social loans have to be repaid

Students in Thuringia, who got into financial difficulties through no fault of their own due to the Corona crisis, can apply for an interest-free social loan (supported by the universities) up to a maximum of 800 Euros at the "Studierendenwerk Thüringen" since the beginning of April. Now the state has decided to take over half of this loan amount and thus convert the loans into Corona financial aid.

Students must therefore repay a maximum of 400 euros. This regulation also applies to students who have already signed a contract for a social loan for the full amount after April 1, 2020, the Studierendenwerk Thüringen now announces. The Studierendenwerk will inform each affected person that the repayment of the loan amount will be waived by half.

The application for a half subsidized Corona financial aid can now be submitted to asb@stw-thueringen.de. The corresponding application form (German and English) is available on the website of the Studierendenwerk. It is also pointed out which documents are required for an application.
