Intercultural Training

As part of its "Internationalisation@home" project, the University of Erfurt is offering intercultural training for its non-academic staff on Thursday, 13 June. The speaker will be Julia Brade from the Jena-based organisation Interculture.de. Registration is now open at the International Office.

Everyday working life at the University of Erfurt is becoming increasingly diverse. We experience intercultural encounters and are challenged to deal competently and sensitively with our international students, guests and employees. With the intercultural training, the University of Erfurt would like to promote the continuous qualification of its employees in the intercultural field. The workshop is a further measure to implement the University of Erfurt's internationalisation strategy.

The one-day event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and counts as working time. However, participation must be agreed in advance with the head of your department. Participants have the opportunity to deal with the following topics and acquire the relevant skills:

  • raising awareness and reflecting on their own cultural imprints and language behaviour;
  • the basics of intercultural communication;
  • tools and strategies for dealing with situations characterised by interculturality and for coping with oral and written communication with language barriers;
  • collegial case work.

To register, please send an informal e-mail to international@uni-erfurt.de. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
