Lecture Series of the Joint Project "Journalists and their Audience in the Digital Age"

In the summer semester of 2023, the University of Erfurt will organize a lecture series together with the University of Münster and the University of Tübingen. The focus will be on the relationship between journalists and their audience in digital media environments. Invitations are extended not only to students and employees of the University of Erfurt, but also to citizens interested in questions of journalism-audience relations.

The lecture series is organized within the framework of a joint project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Head of the Erfurt subproject and primarily responsible for the lecture series is PD Dr. Nicole Podschuweit, co-responsible are Jun.-Prof. Dr. Helena Stehle (project coordinator, head of the Münster subproject) and Dr. Hanne Detel (head of the Tübingen subproject).

In addition to the project leaders, experts from academia and journalistic practice will report from their respective perspectives and stimulate discussion. They will focus on journalists and their "audience" on online channels, user comments and hate speech, but also on the trust of the audience in the media as a whole.

The lecture series starts on April 11 and will then take place on eight dates on Tuesdays from 6:15 to 7:45 pm. The lectures on April 11, April 18, May 9 and July 11 can be heard live in Lecture Hall 3 (teaching building 1) at the University of Erfurt. The lectures on April 25, June 6, June 20 and June 27 will be streamed from the universities of Münster and Tübingen, respectively. The link to the live streams as well as a detailed lecture schedule with the respective topics, lecturers* and venues can be found at the following website: https://journalist-audience-relations.net.
