Vice-President presents 15 Germany Scholarships

The University of Erfurt has awarded 15 new scholarships to particualary talented and high-performing students as part of the national scholarship programme – known as the Germany Scholarships (Deutschlandstipendium) – in the current winter semester 2025/26. This was made possible by the support of the Ernst Abbe Foundation, the "Vereinigte Kirchen- und Klosterkammer Erfurt", the "Freunde und Förderer Zonta" association and another private donor. 125 students had applied, including international students. The official handover took place this afternoon.

The national scholarship programme is aimed at all first-year students and students already enrolled on a Bachelor's or Master's programme. Scholarships are generally awarded for a period of two semesters based on talent and performance. In addition to previous achievements, social commitment, willingness to take on responsibility or special social, family or personal circumstances are also taken into account. Half of the scholarships of 300 euros are funded by the federal government, the other half by companies, foundations, associations or private sponsors. The first Germany Scholarships were awarded by the University of Erfurt in 2012.

In our campus blog “Ich mag meine Uni” (I like my university), we take a closer look at Felix, one of the Germany Scholarship recipients from 2025, and his student engagement.
