The project was presented by students from the "Studium Fundamentale" Sustainability, who had chosen an interactive format to engage in conversation with visitors to the day of action. They were given the opportunity to take part in a sustainability quiz and describe their ideas for redesigning the cathedral square on a board. And they were quite creative: in addition to more trees and a raised bed on wheels, a volleyball net was also included as an idea. The School Garden subject area of the University of Erfurt was also present at the campaign day to present its work and answer questions about the programme. In addition, children were able to design bookmarks with pressed plants and play a bouncy game on the street.
"Our students came into contact with various people interested in sustainability and lively discussions ensued, for example about the fact that Erfurt used to be much greener and that building development has made city life more hectic," reports Bettina Hollstein, the University of Erfurt's Sustainability Officer. So the campaign day was a great opportunity for the students to think about sustainable developments in the city and to exchange ideas with the people of Erfurt.
