The Study of our Relationship to the World
Campus publishing house Frankfurt, 2023
The sociology of world relations examines how people locate themselves in and relate to the world. This volume shows how this approach can be made fruitful for different disciplines. The authors from the Max-Weber-Kolleg at the University of Erfurt analyse fundamental concepts of Western modernity – such as the practices of sharing and exchange. In addition, they open up a historical and global comparative perspective on the basis of diverse topics, such as the understanding of the market and property in China or the decolonisation of research in India. They then formulate concrete proposals for a new orientation of the social and cultural sciences.
This volume was published on the occasion of the opening of the research building "Weltbeziehungen" on the campus of the University of Erfurt.
