Second Erfurt Storytelling Café with Michael Schröder

The Oral History Research Unit of the University of Erfurt in collaboration with the Kultur-Haus Dacheröden cordially invites all interested parties to the second Erfurt Storytelling Café on Saturday, 30 September. This time the guest will be Michael Schröder. The event begins at 3 p.m. at Haus Dacheröden, Am Anger 37, with admission from 2.30 p.m. onwards.

The gynaecologist, who was born in Leipzig in 1941, practised obstetrics in Erfurt and surrounding hospitals in his first half of his career. During this time he was a pioneer of new gynaecological procedures in the GDR. Schröder finally had to take a personal stand in 1973 when the abortion law was passed, a far-reaching decision. In 1971, he married Marion Stürcke, the daughter of a bank owner in Erfurt.

On Saturday, Michael Schröder will now share his life story in the non-judgemental space of the Erfurt Storytelling Café by interweaving personal experiences with larger historical events. All guests are invited to listen, participate with questions and join in the discussion on the topic. However, please register at: kontakt@dacheroeden.de or call 0361 / 644 123 75.
