The program is divided into a study phase of three semesters and a fourth semester in which the Master's thesis is written.
The following six modules are offered in the study phase:
A semester abroad in an English-speaking country is strongly recommended. The International Office will be happy to assist you in organizing your stay abroad.
The Master's program is not only open to graduates of a philosophy programme, but to all those interested in the subject of philosophy. Applicants without any previous knowledge of philosophy must acquire the necessary subject-specific basics (propaedeutics) during the course of their studies.
A good knowledge of German and English is generally a prerequisite for studies. Knowledge of the classical languages of occidental philosophy, Greek and Latin, is an advantage.
Proof of language skills is not required.
The Language Centre (Sprachenzentrum) offers around 140 language courses per semester in 16 modern and ancient (foreign) languages. It supports you in acquiring and deepening your language skills.
