Distorted world maps: New "WortMelder" interview with Professor Iris Schröder

Many of us have been familiar with it since our earliest childhood and for a long time it was hard to imagine school geography lessons without it: the world map with its oceans and continents. What many people don't realise: The map is distorted.

Professor Iris Schröder explains why this is the case in a new article on the University of Erfurt's "WortMelder" research blog. The historian is head of the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Perthes Collection at the University of Erfurt and has been conducting research on and with maps for many years.
