Gotha Library Talk: "Blumen der Tugend"

The Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt invites you to its next "Library Talk" on Wednesday, 14 February. It starts at 6:15 pm in the Herzog-Ernst-Kabinett at Friedenstein Castle. Admission is free.

How can the "flowers of virtue" be plucked? – In this Gotha library talk, Dr cand. phil. Louisa-Maria Nehmer, Professor Henrike Manuwald (both University of Göttingen) and PD Dr Monika Müller (Gotha Research Library) present Hans Vintler's didactic poem "Blumen der Tugend" ("Flowers of Virtue"), a 15th century Gotha illuminated manuscript, and its unusual pictorial programme from a German Studies and art historical perspective. What to do and what not to do in life is conveyed in the text, not least through entertaining stories and proverbs. On this evening, guests will discover the effect created by their translation into images in the Gotha manuscript.

Due to limited capacity, please register by 12 February at veranstaltungen.fb@uni-erfurt.de or by phone 0361/737-5530.
