The History of Beekeeping in the Duchy of Gotha in the 19th Century

The history of beekeeping in the Duchy of Gotha in the 19th century will be the subject of the Gotha Library Talk on Wednesday, 22 May at 6.15 pm, to which the Gotha Research Library of the University of Erfurt cordially invites all interested parties to the "Spiegelsaal" (hall of mirrors) at Friedenstein Castle.

Susanne Rückert (Thuringian University and State Library Jena) and Dr Dietrich Hakelberg (Gotha Research Library) will present a storytelling project that was created as part of the "Books, Parks and Gardens" digitisation project funded by the Thuringian State Chancellery.

The "Gotha Library Talks" series will continue on Wednesday, 3 July at 6.15 pm in the "Herzog-Ernst-Kabinett". Dr Markus Meumann from the Gotha Research Centre, an expert on the history of the Thirty Years' War, and provenance researcher Dr Dietrich Hakelberg will talk about the significance and fate of the Ernestine "lying dormant" war booty in the historical holdings of the Gotha Research Library.
