The Staatswissenschaftliche Forum e.V. (Economics, Law and Social Sciences Forum e.V.) and the European Information Centre invite you to a hybrid brown-bag lunch on the topic of "Business and human rights on the ground: implementation of the Supply Chain Act in Thuringia". The panel will include Professor Dr Maik Wolf (University of Erfurt) and will be chaired by Professor Dr Michael Riegner (University of Erfurt, Chairman of the Board of SWF e.V.).

Since 1 January 2023, the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz, LKSG) has obliged large companies based in Germany to counteract human rights violations in their global supply chains. The European Union is currently discussing a corresponding directive. But what does human rights protection in supply chains actually mean for the Thuringian economy? What challenges does the effective implementation of the LKSG pose locally? What can we expect from the European regulation?

Experts from business, science and legal practice will discuss these questions and seek an exchange with the audience at a hybrid lunch ("brown-bag lunch") at the European Information Centre Erfurt and online. Lunch snacks and drinks will be served.
