In this workshop, we will delve into the landscape of science communication through various channels, with a special focus on blogging and social media platforms. Participants will learn to identify and classify these platforms to effectively reach their intended audience. We will explore strategies for crafting compelling content that engages and provides real value to followers. Emphasis will be placed on harnessing the power of new media for enhanced visibility and networking. Practical tips will be provided on optimal blogging practices—including timing, platform selection, and integrating blogs with broader social media efforts to amplify your message. Additionally, the workshop will address handling negative feedback and hate speech, empowering participants to maintain a positive online presence despite potential challenges.
Anna Euteneuer is an experienced science communication expert. After completing her doctorate in genetics, she chose the path into communication and gained experience in targeted science communication in the pharmaceutical sector, but above all in the university sector. She has been a social media and science editor at the University of Cologne since 2022. She gives workshops on the topic of science communication, especially social media for Twentone Skills. To balance her screen work, she likes to go for walks with her dog and is a trainer for barre workouts. She lives in Bonn.
