Lecture and insights into media education practice

Nowadays, children naturally grow up surrounded by digital media. However, media literacy – and in particular information and news literacy – does not develop automatically. Since 2020, the SPREUWEIZEN team has been working with young people on topics such as journalism, disinformation, influencer culture, and freedom of the press and freedom of expression. Since last year, these programmes have also been aimed at primary school-aged children. During the event, Juliane Obst and Ronald Becker will provide insights into SPREUWEIZEN’s work and demonstrate practical methods for engaging, playful and child-friendly media education. This is an open to the university public lecture held as part of Professor Ulf Sauerbrey’s ‘Childhood Research’ course. Anyone interested is very welcome to attend.
