Call for applications: Herzog Ernst Scholarships and Hiob Ludwig Fellowships for graduate students and established researchers

The University of Erfurt is once again announcing "Herzog Ernst Scholarships" and "Hiob Ludwig Fellowships" for research into the Gotha collections, primarily at the Gotha Research Library, for the year 2024. The interdisciplinary scholarship programme promotes in particular the academic study of the holdings of the Gotha Research Library and the historical collections of the publishing house Justus Perthes. The scholarship programme is supported by the Ernst Abbe Foundation.

During their stay on site, the scholarship holders are connected to the research institutions of the University of Erfurt in Gotha. The earliest scholarship start date is 1 February 2024. The application deadline is 30 September 2023. For further details, please refer to the call for applications.

The fellowship programme promotes the academic study of the holdings of the Gotha Research Library and the associated historical collections of the publishing house Justus Perthes Gotha. The academic content aims to take account of the diverse holdings and universality of the Gotha library. The programme is thematically and disciplinarily open. The holdings of the State Archives of Thuringia – Gotha State Archives and the Friedenstein Castle Gotha Foundation can also be included in the research.
