Do we need a readjustment of Philosophy and the History of Ideas in the face of the planetary crisis?

The effects of global climate change are omnipresent. Hardly a day goes by without news reports about the climate crisis. Scientists, engineers and politicians discuss how it can be stopped, if not prevented. But the topic is also coming up in the humanities. A workshop has now taken place at the Gotha Research Centre of the University of Erfurt, which is to be the prelude to a longer-term engagement with the climate crisis from the perspective of the history of knowledge.

The researchers are specifically asking about the need for a readjustment of Philosophy and the history of ideas in the light of the planetary crisis. For our research blog "WortMelder", we spoke with Professor Martin Mulsow, the director of the research centre.
