The actual meeting place of the IBZ Erfurt with conference and seminar rooms for events is located on the first floor. There is also a library and reading room. All new installations within the historical building fabric were done carefully, but generously and contemporary, only in the library a coffered ceiling in reworked Renaissance form was reinstalled.
The meeting area can also be used for university events. With cinema seating it can accommodate 40 people. If tables and chairs are placed in a U-shape, the event can accommodate about 28 participants. An inquiry regarding the availability of the seminar area in the planned period is to be addressed to the administration of the IBZ. If the seminar, workshop or conference can take place, then an application for use should be sent to the administration of the guest house at least four weeks before the beginning. After the approval a date for the handing over of the keys and if necessary a briefing for the use of the rooms can be arranged. It is possible to use the kitchen belonging to the seminar room. For the use of the rooms, the current regulations for use and fees (in German) as well as the house rules (in German) apply. The first floor is designed barrier-free.
There is also a piano in the seminar room of the guest house. The tenants have the possibility to get access to the piano on request at the administraion of the IBZ and to practice playing regularly, following the rules and regulations in force in the house. Of course, the instrument can also be used for musical performances in the context of common events.
The inner courtyard of the guest house represents the extension of the meeting area to the outside. It not only offers the children of our host families the opportunity to play safely away from the streets in the fresh air. The host families can also meet on long warm summer evenings for a barbecue and end the day with a glass of wine. Bicycles, scooters and the like can be safely stored in a separately lockable room that is accessible from the courtyard.
