Today, reproductive self-determination has become a battleground for the most diverse worldviews, interests and attributions. In particular, the unabated controversy surrounding abortion paradigmatically marks the conflict between the protection of life and autonomy. However, the claim to reproductive autonomy also leads to ethical and social disputes in other areas. Much-discussed topics include egg donation, surrogate motherhood, relinquishing parenthood, social freezing and genetic diagnostics. Volume 9 of the Yearbook of Moral Theology offers information and orientation from an ethical perspective in this confusing situation.
