Workshop at the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Perthes Collection

The workshop brings together international scholars to examine the cartographies of the Red Sea and its coastal areas in the long 19th century. The visualisations of the Red Sea are just as interesting as the various spatial and political orders and ideas associated with it.

In this context, a visit to the Gotha Perthes Collection is planned in order to examine the materials on the Red Sea that have survived there.
