Information from the organisers

The internet and digitalisation have led to a liberalisation and pluralisation of the media landscape. However, these freedoms are also being used by enemies of democracy and instrumentalised for their own purposes.

Players in the neo-Nazi scene and the "new right" use the various social media platforms - sometimes in a highly professional manner - to spread their own ideology, manipulate debates and attack and discredit established media and political opponents. Last but not least, extreme right-wing online activities are used to network the scene internationally and for recruitment.

The lecture will shed light on the central strategies of extreme right-wing online activities and provide an overview of key players. It will provide information on how to identify problematic content and what counter-strategies are possible.
