The students enjoyed an engaging and insightful guided tour led by Ms. Marlis Zimmermann and Ms. Carla Budden, who brought the building’s architectural, historical, and political significance to life.
During the visit, students explored key spaces within the Parliament, including the plenary chamber. Here, Ms. Zimmermann offered detailed explanations of parliamentary procedures, the roles of Members of Parliament and Ministers, and how legislative decisions unfold in the state of Thuringia. The in-depth presentation gave students valuable insights into the day-to-day functioning of regional democracy and the legislative process.
The tour also included walks through several key areas of the Parliament, including its historic corridors and the Parliament’s prayer room. These spaces highlighted both the functional and reflective dimensions that support parliamentary life.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning to real-world governance while enriching their understanding of governance at the state level.
