Course description:
This workshop provides participants with basic knowledge on how to develop efficient and effective time management in their teaching. In a first step, we will deal with the creation of a semester plan: we will clarify basic questions such as when to start planning the semester? Which aspects need to be taken into account when planning your time (selection of content, preparation and follow-up of sessions, absences, holidays, examination periods, office hours, etc.). In a second step, we deal with the efficient planning of individual course sessions. Participants receive an introduction to the AVIVA phase model for event planning. Participants will learn how to organise a course in a time-efficient manner, where time wasters can be located and how they can work with buffers and optional tasks to plan a course in a time-efficient and effective manner. Finally, participants are given strategies on how to react to unforeseen events during the course sessions in order to keep to their schedule.
The workshop is practice-orientated in that participants are guided to work directly on their own semester planning. They learn specific planning strategies and receive templates to help them organise their semester in a time-efficient manner.
Participants also create a schedule for one of their course sessions to learn how to plan and implement the individual course phases in a time-efficient manner. The semester and course plans drawn up by the participants are discussed in plenary. Participants receive constructive feedback on their concepts and solutions for time-related challenges in teaching are developed together.

- Learning objectives:
After the workshop, participants will be able to...
- ... create a semester plan that adequately takes into account the required time resources.
- ... organise a session according to the AVIVA model in a time-efficient manner.
